Jeff’s New School

Jeff started school this past week as a dean — just getting ready for the kids to come back. He’s at his new school and he is so pumped. He’s nervous b/c a lot of expectations have been put on him, but everyone seems so excited he’s there. This past saturday the principal at his new school had a cookout at his house and invited all the administrators. I can’t tell you how many times people said, “Welcome to the family.” We never got this kind of feeling from Apopka — let alone having the family invited to an event. It’s really nice.

There’s lots of positive, forward momentum going for the school, which for years has been considered a “bad” school in a “bad” part of town. Before the cookout they had a campus beautification day and more than 300 people were out there — many of them volunteers to put down mulch and plants that had been donated by local companies. Part of jeff’s new job is PR for the school and after sending information about the event to the county’s PR person, she contacted local news organizations and three of them showed up, including Fox News.

i think God is going to use Jeff in a cool way at this school. Just today I picked up some photos from Costco that I got developed from our trip to Israel two years ago. Jeff is going to put them up in his office. several staffers are Christian as well, so I think Jeff will be in good company. Pray for him that he continues to have favor and that God’s hand of protection be on him. We’re anticipating great things.

Jeff tooks lots of great pictures Saturday, but we’re not allowed to post pictures of the kids without release forms, so I’ll just post adults!

two guys jeff will be working closely with. the guy on the left went to high school with jeff, although jeff didn’t know him. (they had a “chance” meeting, and by chance, i mean probably divine, this past spring, which led jeff to apply for this job.)
